I’m an independent network and unified communications contractor based in Victoria, BC. I help organizations plan and deliver production changes, resolve operational issues, and improve reliability. Typical work includes preparing and executing maintenance windows, coordinating with internal teams and vendors, and producing clear as-built documentation and rollback plans for handover.

Productized mini-engagements (fixed scope, fixed fee)

  • Cutover Planning & Support (one window) — I write the plan and rollback, prep the test checklist, and co-lead the window (timeline, comms, proofs). Outputs: final plan & rollback, test results, before/after diffs, concise as-built. (Your team executes changes; I run plan/comms/tests.)

  • Network Health Check — Snapshot routing/HA, VLAN/segmentation, STP, interface hygiene, QoS, and management basics (NTP/syslog/SNMP). Outputs: prioritized issues with fixes, updated as-built.

  • UC Health Check — Snapshot dial plan/call flows, SIP trunks/failover, TLS/SRTP posture, emergency calling, paging paths, and MRA/Expressway basics. Outputs: prioritized issues with fixes, updated as-built.

  • Cisco WLAN Tune-Up — Review WLC/9800 settings (RRM/channel/power), SSIDs/security (802.1X/guest), QoS, and client health; tidy controller-level hygiene. Outputs: prioritized fixes, updated as-built. (No survey — can coordinate your tool/partner).

  • VoIP Numbering Normalization — Normalize patterns/translations and class of control to +E.164. Outputs: change list (or configs), test results, updated as-built.

  • Remote Site Turn-Up Pack — L3/IP schema, WAN handoff, DHCP/DNS/NTP, switch/AP templates, basic QoS; prep and guide the turn-up. Outputs: config pack, turn-up checklist, updated as-built.

  • Documentation & Diagram Refresh — Refresh your as-built documentation and a clean high-level network diagram to match current state. Outputs: updated as-built and diagram.

Day-to-Day:

  • Burn down P1/P2 and chronic tickets; root cause over workarounds

  • Coordinate with TAC/partners to resolution

  • Tighten standards/hygiene (naming, templates, interface/QoS sanity, inventory accuracy)

  • Tune monitoring/logging (SNMP/syslog/NTP); basic run checks

  • Transfer knowledge; document decisions and current state

Coverage and Formats:
